Celebrating 115 years of International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate the strength, resilience and brilliance of women everywhere. At Home‑Start Oxford, we see that strength every single week, in women who show up for their families, who rebuild, who nurture, who lead, and who keep going even when life feels overwhelming.

We see women finding confidence and connection in our groups, women welcoming volunteers into their homes with honesty and trust, and women navigating parenting in all kinds of circumstances. And we see the women who make Home‑Start Oxford what it is. Our volunteers, staff, trustees and partners all bring compassion, skill and heart to every family they support.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give To Gain, speaks directly to what we believe. When we give our time, our knowledge, our resources, our advocacy, we all gain. Giving strengthens communities, multiplies opportunity and helps create a more equal, connected and compassionate world for women, families and everyone around them.

So this year, we will be celebrating the women who inspire us daily. And we invite you to join us, to Give To Gain, to widen the circle of support, and to help build a community where every family feels seen, valued and supported.

There are meaningful ways to get involved right now. We’re currently looking for more volunteers as demand for our support continues to grow. You don’t need special expertise, just empathy, reliability and a willingness to walk alongside families during important chapters of their lives. Giving your time could make a real difference to families in our community.

Later this month, we’ll also be launching our Trustee Recruitment Campaign. This is an opportunity to help steer our charity, share your voice and experience, and develop new skills while shaping our future direction.

And we’ve got job opportunities in the pipeline including a new Fundraising Officer, a key role that will strengthen our fundraising team as we work towards ambitious goals aligned with our strategic vision.
