It’s an exciting time in the office, as we’re currently looking for two Summer Play Workers and a Fundraising & Events Officer.  These are great opportunities to join our friendly team.  Below is a bit more detail about the roles.

Summer Play Workers: We’re looking for enthusiastic, caring and creative individuals to join us as Summer Play Workers, helping deliver a fun, engaging and supportive programme for families with children aged 0–5. You’ll lead playful activities, support outdoor adventures, encourage free play and help create a warm, inclusive environment where children can learn, explore and thrive. The role involves ensuring children’s safety, maintaining an organised play space, building positive relationships with families, and working closely with the team to bring each session to life. Ideal candidates will be energetic, approachable and passionate about working with young children, with the ability to plan engaging play activities, communicate sensitively with adults and children, and embody Home‑Start’s ethos of kindness, reassurance and no judgement.

Fundraising & Events Officer: We’re also seeking a dynamic, motivated Fundraising and Events Officer to join our growing team and help sustain and expand our vital work with families. In this varied role, you’ll work across multiple income streams, from events and community fundraising to trusts, foundations and individual giving, bringing creativity, strong organisational skills and excellent relationship‑building abilities. You’ll coordinate major challenge events like the Oxford Half and London Marathon, support local fundraising initiatives, write small trust applications, deliver high‑quality donor stewardship and maintain accurate fundraising data. Confident, proactive and detail‑focused, you’ll be able to motivate supporters, communicate brilliantly in person and in writing, and contribute fresh ideas that help us give children the best possible start in life.
