Home-Start Oxford Privacy Notice

Home-Start Oxford (HSO) is a registered charity (no. 1108612) and a company limited by guarantee (5375011). Our services support families with children across Oxford City and central Oxfordshire including Wheatley, Kidlington, Woodstock, Witney, Carterton and Burford.

HSO is a data controller, registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (no. Z939352X). We are committed to protecting your personal information and to being transparent about what information we hold. We will only process your personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We will ensure all personal data is:

  • Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner;
  • Obtained for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes only;
  • Only processed in a way that is compatible with the purpose(s) for which it was collected;
  • Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the relevant purpose(s);
  • Accurate and up to date;
  • Kept for no longer than is necessary for the purpose(s) for which the data is processed;
  • Processed in accordance with the data subject’s rights under the GDPR;
  • Kept secure and protected against unauthorised or unlawful processing, and against accidental loss, destruction or damage; and
  • Not transferred outside the United Kingdom without appropriate safeguards and on condition that enforceable data subject rights and effective legal remedies for data subjects are available.

HSO processes information about our staff, service users and about people with whom we work, including current, past and prospective employees, volunteers, trustees, members, donors and the families we support. We also hold information about people who have opted in to receiving communications from HSO.

Your rights

You may ask for confirmation as to whether or not we process your personal data and, where we do, you have a right to access to it, together with certain additional information. This may include details of the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal data concerned and the recipients of the personal data. Providing the rights and freedoms of others are not affected, HSO will provide a copy of your personal data within 30 days. The first copy will be provided free of charge, but additional copies may be subject to a reasonable fee.

HSO will endeavour to ensure that all personal data held is accurate and kept up-to-date. You must notify us of changes in the information we hold about you. You have the right to have your personal data rectified without undue delay if it is inaccurate or incomplete.

You also have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of some or all of your personal information if there is a disagreement about its accuracy or we are not lawfully allowed to use it. You may also ask that any of your personal data we hold be erased (‘right to be forgotten’). The broad principle underpinning this is to enable a person to request the deletion or removal of personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing. If you wish to exercise any of the above rights, you should write to the Chief Executive, Home-Start Oxford, 26 Kingfisher Green, Oxford OX4 7BX. We may need to ask for further information from you and/or evidence of identity. If we are unable to respond to any request within 30 days we will contact you giving reasons for the delay.
