Summer of fun 2026

Let’s get summer started!

We’re inviting families across Oxfordshire to enjoy a packed programme of free summer activities, as we launch our 2026 “Summer of Fun”.

We’ll once more be hosting a series of community events throughout the summer holidays in Witney and Rose Hill, giving families with young children the chance to come together, make memories and enjoy fun activities without the financial pressure that can often accompany the school holidays.

The programme includes outdoor park sessions, imaginative play experiences, a bouncy castle morning and a family party, all completely free to attend. While the activities are primarily aimed at families with children under the age of five, older siblings are welcome to join in the fun too.

In Witney, we’ll host sessions at Oxlease Play Park and as part of Oxfordshire Play Association’s Play Day celebration, while in Rose Hill activities will take place at Rose Hill Community Centre. 

Jan Chrystal, our Family Groups Coordinator at Home-Start Oxford, said:

“The summer holidays can be a wonderful time for families, but they can also bring added pressure when parents and carers are trying to keep children entertained on a budget. Our Summer of Fun programme is all about creating opportunities for families to get out, meet others, enjoy quality time together and make some happy memories without worrying about the cost.  We hope these sessions will offer something for everyone to enjoy and we can’t wait to welcome families along this summer.”

Witney Summer of Fun

  • Wednesday 29 July, 10am-12pm: Park Fun, Oxlease Play Park, OX28 3AL
  • Thursday 6 August, 11am-3pm: OPA Play Day, Burwell Meadow Recreation Ground, OX28 5NP (note this is an event run by Oxfordshire Play Association, to which Home-Start Oxford will be taking part and providing activities for the little ones).
  • Wednesday 12 August, 10am-12pm: Park Fun, Oxlease Play Park, OX28 3AL
  • Wednesday 19 August, 10am-12pm: Park Fun, Oxlease Play Park, OX28 3AL

Rose Hill Summer of Fun

  • Friday 31 July: Little City Role Play
  • Friday 7 August: Bouncy Castle Fun
  • Friday 14 August: Fam Jam Party
  • Friday 21 August: Summer Fun Session

All Rose Hill sessions take place at Rose Hill Community Centre (OX4 4HF), from 10am-12pm.
