A ‘dump bag’ is where you prepare all – or most – of the ingredients for a slow cooker meal by putting them into a bag and then freeze until you want to cook it. When you are ready to cook, simply defrost thoroughly, ‘dump’ in the slow cooker and cook!
This recipe makes a great ‘dump bag’ meal.
Directions
For the ‘dump bag’:
- Finely chop garlic
- Peel carrots and potatoes, chop into chunks and add to bag.
- Break the broccoli into florets, cut the tough outside skin off the stork and discard. Chop up the remaining stork and add to the bag
- Chop mushrooms and chicken to desired size and add to bag.
- Add a tablespoon of cornflour to the bag and shake.
When ready to use:
- Empty bag into slow cooker. (If you have frozen the dump bag, make sure it is fully defrosted before using).
- Add the stock, mustard, honey and 400-600ml of water (depending on how saucy you like it).
- Cook on high for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon
- Once cooked add cream and seasoning to taste and serve. (make sure the chicken is piping hot).
